We are very thrilled to be planning our first childrens' Opera. This will be an adaptation of Mozart's Magic Flute including great songs, arias, choruses and dialogue. Something for everybody! This exciting story involves a Dragon Snake, a Prince, a Princess, the Queen of the Night, a High Priest, a Bird Catcher, a Lady Bird Catcher, a Chief of the Staff, Three Ladies-in-Waiting to the Queen, Three Youths of the Temple, Priests, Priestesses, and Staff.

The Story:
A Princess Pamina is being protected by a Chief Priest, Sarastro. Her dying father sent her to Sarastro to protect her from her evil Mother, the Queen of the Night. A prince is frightened by a huge snake and faints. The Bird Catcher walks in and pretends he was the Hero, when in fact, the three ladies in waiting to the Queen had slain the Beast. They punish the bird catcher for lying for he said it was he who had slain the beast. The ladies padlock his mouth and he can only say Hmm. The Queen enters and tells the Prince Tamino, that if he can find and rescue her Daughter from the evil Sorcerer, Sarastro , he may marry her. The Ladies remove Papagenos mouth lock and give them chimes and a magic flute to protect and help them on their quest. Three youths also go with them to aid on the journey. On the way, the bird catcher says he hopes that he may too find the girl of his dreams. He meets an old lady who says she is to become the bride of Papageno and he cannot believe it is to happen. She later transforms into a beautiful girl to his surprise. Tamino and Papageno find the Monastery where Pamina is trying to protect herself from the evil Monastos, the Moor. Tamino meets Sarastro and finds out that he is indeed a man of wisdom and of noble character Chief Priest charged to protect Pamina. Sarastro decrees that they must prove that they are worthy of the higher happiness. Tamino overcomes fabulous ordeals with the assistance of his magic flute and his own purity of purpose, alongside Pamina.

NOBAC'S NEW YEARS CAMPAIGN
"100 From 100" to support our Spring Youth Opera!

Dear Arts Enthusiasts,

Auditions, opera workshops and rehearsals for the Magic Flute, will begin in January, 2010, and we are hoping to mount this ambitious and exciting production in May. We can hardly contain our enthusiasm to proceed with this next project! And we need your help.

Our estimated budget for this production is only $10,000. Therefore, we are seeking donations from our friends and donors to succeed in establishing a "100 From 100" new year funding campaign. Simply put, we are seeking 100 donations of $100 to support our innovative endeavor. Please donate what you can. If it is more than $100, great! If it must be less, pull a few friends, grandparents and other family, co-workers, social club members together and each pitch in enough to equal a $100 donation. Our students would be most appreciative. They are excited to get started learning all about opera!!

Thank you.
The NOBAC TEAM
As always,
in deepest gratitude
Bonnie
